ABOUT BARRETT MILLER

The town I’m from is Capistrano Beach, CA, I started shaping at 14 and I’m 22 now.

My mentors in the shaping room is Joel Tudor, Timmy Patterson, Rich Pavel, Ryan Burch, Wayne Rich, and Hank Byzak.
My biggest inspirations in the shaping/surf world is Donald Takayama, Skip Frye, and Dick Brewer. I’ve been lucky enough to shape in the same facility amongst many other legends under Laminations San Diego (L.S.D.)
Shaping Joel Tudor Surfboards, THC surfboards and my own personal label.
My love and passion for board design came from the fact that good equipment wasn’t available. The boards I was after were not being produced or very little supply.

SURFBOARDS

SWALLOW

70’s style single fin made for waves waist high to double overhead. Plenty of forward foam with wide point set above center to navigate lineups with ease. Slight vee entry transitioning into flat under the chest and a spiral vee hook rail to channel water off the tail. Very easy to turn and hold a line.

PINOT

Speed shape pintail intended for all waves big and small. Slightly rolled bottom with foiled 50/50 rails. If I could choose one board to travel with this would be the one. Influenced by San Diego surfers John Holly and Phil Edwards.

SPRINGFIELD

A nose rider with influence from Australia and California. Gradual stepdeck, subtle concave, and the slightly wider nose provides tons of lift on the tip. Vee in the tail to slice through sections and turn with ease. Forward 50/50 rails to 60/40 upturn rails through the tail. This great all around longboard is intended for waves up to head high. A Joel Tudor model that I have had the pleasure of working on alongside Wayne Rich and Hank Byzak.

SAMSON

A modern take on the classic Magic Sam. Designed to trim and turn with ease. This model features 50/50 rails, slight concave entry that rolls into panel vee through the tail. Very easy to maneuver through those critical sections and lock into deep pocket rides. Thrives in points and beach breaks. Very easy to put on rail and cruise through sections on the nose. Definitely a favorite by many as of lately.
